On April 8th, 2020, Governor Northam exercised his statutory authority to delay the June 9th Primary by 2 weeks. The Primary will now be held on June 23rd, 2020.
- All previously submitted applications for a mail ballot will be honored. You do not need to submit another application. All voters can use Reason Code 2A to request a ballot because of concerns about COVID-19. Ballots will be mailed as soon as they are available. This will be in early May. Request a Mail Ballot
- In Person Absentee or Early Voting will be available May 8th – June 20th.
- All 54 precincts will be open on June 23rd 6am – 7pm.
Register to Vote Deadline: May 26th, Application must be Post-Marked.
Apply for Mail Ballot Deadline: June 16th, Application must be Received by 5pm.
Mail Ballot Return Deadline: June 23rd, Ballots must be Received by 7pm to be counted.
In Person Voting Available: May 8th – June 20th
Candidate Filing Deadline: The candidate filing deadline to be on the November Ballot remains June 9th. All filing paperwork must be submitted by 7pm.
The Governor’s request that the legislature postpone May Elections and subsequent statements about May Elections do not apply to Arlington as there was no May Election scheduled. 67 jurisdictions in Virginia are scheduled to have Town and City Elections in May.
